Mastopathy
Mastopathy is a disease of the breast, characterized by pathological proliferation of its tissues, pain, and sometimes pathological secretion.
The main role in the occurrence of mastopathy belongs to the deficit of progesterone and an increase in the level of estrogens with the development of hyperestrogenism, which leads to the growth of the epithelium of the alveoli, ducts, connective tissue. A certain role can play an increased production of prolactin, regulating the growth, development and functional state of the mammary glands.
There are two types of mastopathy - diffuse and nodular. The disease begins with the proliferation of connective tissue, while forming small filamentous nodules and strands (diffuse form). With the further development of the disease in the breast tissue, dense knots are formed from pea to walnut (nodular form). Diffuse form can be with a predominance of cystic, fibrous or glandular component, as well as a mixed form (fibrocystic disease). Any pathology of the breast can promote or serve as a predisposing factor in the development of cancer.
